The Author’s Lost Weekend

When I abandoned the Book project and later, the website back in 2016, it was due to a number of reasons. I don’t really want to get into those at this point but because there were several factors it felt like the right thing to do at the time. We can chat about that sometime in the future.

I want you to know that I am back. I re-opened the Website and I’m in the middle of running down and collating all my content to finish the book.

I’m meeting with Larry Kelly (Gretsch’s lead designer from 1977 to 1980) next month and I’ve got to tell you , that guy is amazing. Mind like a trap. He remembers everything. He, along with his boss Tom Kimble were responsible for designing the BST 5000. Larry was the sole designer of the BST 2000, which was meant to replace the TK-300 as the low end model. By the way, I am on the hunt for a BST 2000 for him so please let me know if you have one or know of one for sale.

I’m going to keep this short because its late and I have a lot to do tomorrow. I have so much website content to recover its insane. On a side note, I bought a beautiful house in August of 2018, my band is starting to play again but I am really looking forward to the work that lay ahead.

One more thing…The reason i came back had very little to do with finances or changing situations. The reason I came back was because of you. Last fall my girlfriend looked up the old site and showed me dozens of “where are yous’?” from people I didn’t even know. I was blown away.

I looked too and saw the concern from so many about my finances and I read many of your observations and speculations. It really took me by surprise, hearing people saying they were bummed out that it all went away.

To be honest, I thought nobody cared. Its one of the main reasons I gave up. Those words you posted are really what brought me back. Thank you to those of you who reached out and gave me your encouragement.

I’m not going to give you any hype about the site or the book. Just know that I promise to see it through this time. My plan is to finish the book within the next few months and release it in September. I will be releasing it, almost 50 years to the day that the 2 Dairy barns on Flat Street “officially ” opened for business. I think you’ll enjoy it.

Thanks for bringing me back.
